What is the architecture of a SoftRadio system?
Find out the basics of a scalable and flexible Mimer SoftRadio system.
A basic Mimer system consists of three necessary components:
-
Mimer Network Interface(s)
-
Mimer SoftRadio operator(s)
-
An IP connection
The Mimer Network Interface is a hardware box connected to the radio on one end and the IP network on the other.
Mimer SoftRadio is a Windows dispatcher software which connects to the Network Interface(s). Alternatively, we have an API for creating your own client: SoftRadio Service.
The IP connection can be LAN/WAN/Internet, and we also have solutions for satellite: Satellite Connection.
How it works:
Each Network Interface broadcasts all incoming radio traffic on the local LAN subnet, allowing multiple SoftRadio operators to connect to the same radio simultaneously.
The Network Interface can also have one remote connection accross different subnets, enabling a single remote client. This client can be a SoftRadio operator, or an intermediary Mimer component that handles multiple SoftRadio connections to the same radio. In this same way, each SoftRadio operator can connect to multiple radios. This allows a Mimer system to be flexibly scaled according to the number of radios, operators and subnets.
Every Mimer system is tailored for the specific installation. Contact sales to get a system designed for your setup.
